Asma Nadia is a professional author. She has thirty three books published with more than 1.000.000 copies distributed nationwide. She has won several writing awards in Indonesia and won a prize from MASTERA (South East Asia Literary Council), as the best participant in 10 years. PREH (A Waiting), play writing published by The Jakarta Art Council, honored as the best script in Indonesian’s Women Playwrights 2005. She achieved Mizan Award for the best fiction writer in 20 Years Mizan. Her profile was put as one of the 100 distinguished women publishers, writers and researchers in Indonesia, compiled by well-known literary critic Korrie Layun Rampan, 2001. At the year 2006, she was invited to stay in Korea for Residency Exchange Programs for Asian Writers, for six months. And at the year 2009 she was invited to stay for three weeks in another Writer's in residence program held by Le Chateau de lavigny. After the program was completed, she took a chance to travel around 16 countries in europe before coming back from London. Presently, this author is campaigning for the “Indonesian Women Write” movement. Through pembacaanadia@yahoogroups.com, a mailing list established since March 24, 2006, she has been able to encourage her readers to join her in composing books. The mailing list, which began as gathering forum for her readers, now serves as the medium to channel Asma Nadia's visions on literacy. Indeed, the campaign to write, which she often advocates through writing forums and talk shows has found a more comfortable and well-oriented home. Tangible results of this movement are several published books, which is co-authored by Asma Nadia and her friends from the mailing list.
